A WWII THANKSGIVING

WWII Thanksgiving

Happy Thanksgiving from the WWII Veterans History Project!

Today, we are thankful for the sacrifices made by our nation’s Greatest Generation in fighting to preserve peace and democracy across the world.

This photograph shows Private Robert Sears, a soldier in the 26th Infantry Division, enjoying hot chow on Thanksgiving Day “Somewhere in Europe”, November 23, 1944. For many on the front line, Thanksgiving marked the first hot meal they had in months.
