97-YEAR-OLD 101ST AIRBORNE VETERAN OF NORMANDY

Michael Camasso 101st Airborne DDay

We recently had the opportunity to visit Michael Camasso, 97-year-old WWII veteran of the 502nd Parachute Infantry Regiment, 101st Airborne Division.

Michael is one of the last surviving members of his unit, which saw fierce combat across the European theater from Normandy to Germany. He was just 18 years old when he jumped into France on D-Day, marking the beginning of a long struggle to liberate Europe from tyranny and oppression.

At 97 years of age, Michael still suffers from PTSD due to his traumatic wartime experiences.

It’s always a pleasure to visit and chat with this absolute legend — a badass veteran of the Screaming Eagles.
